- Vorbeck Materials Receives $5.1 Million Financing
Jessup -- Vorbeck Materials, a developer and manufacturer of solutions using graphene, reported last week that it has received $5.1 million in funding. The financing was led by Stoneham Partners, with contributions from the Maryland Department for Business and Economic Development (DBED) and a syndicate of individual investors. The company will use the funds to expand development of its Vor-x graphene and Vor-ink conductive inks for printed electronics applications. In conjunction with the funding the Honorable Kristen L. Silverberg, former U.S. Ambassador to the European Union and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, and Dr. Robert G. Hirsch, former Global Managing Director for DuPont’s Intellectual Assets Business and Corporate New Ventures have joined Vorbeck's board.

- Sourcefire Integrates with Security Solution from Qualys
Columbia -- Sourcefire reported last week that it has integrated its Sourcefire 3D System with QualysGuard from Qualys, a CA-based provider of security risk and compliance management solutions. Sourcefire said that the combination of the two solutions enables organizations to reduce the number of actionable network threats.The integration provides customers with the ability to import QualysGuard scan data into the Sourcefire RNA host database.

- MPT Issues Monitoring and Control Contract to Statmon Technologies
Owings Mills -- Maryland Public Television (MPT) has selected Chicago-based Statmon Technologies to provide MPT with a transmission systems monitoring and control project. The project includes interface to and management of traditional broadcast equipment from transmitters and exciters to emergency power systems and microwave infrastructure, along with a remote management solution.Statmon Technologies Corp.

- SafeNet Launches Web and Mail Security Gateway
Belcamp -- SafeNet has launched a new web and email security gateway called eSafe SmartSuite Secure Gateway. SafeNet says the new gateway is a fully integrated content security and data leakage prevention solution with data aware monitoring that enables assessment and mitigation of threats originating from data leakage.

- Ciena Equipment Used in Clearwire’s WiMAX Service in Las Vegas
Linthicum -- Ciena reported last week that its Carrier Ethernet Service Delivery (CESD) platforms are providing the backhaul solution for Clearwire’s CLEAR 4G mobile WiMAX service in Las Vegas. Clearwire is launching a nationwide WiMAX service with the Ciena equipment with deployments already in Baltimore, Atlanta and Portland. In Las Vegas, the service is available to 1.7 million people across 638 square miles. WiMAX typically offers download speeds of 3 to 6 Mbps, significantly more than today’s wireless broadband data services.

- Urban Outfitters Selects Merkle for Database Services
Columbia -- Merkle, a database marketing agency, announced last week that it has been selected by Urban Outfitters to provide database services. Under the contract, Merkle will be supporting the Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People brands by providing strategy, analytics, data-driven insight and a comprehensive custom-built database infrastructure called a Knowledge Center for executing multi-channel marketing programs. Merkle will support the retailer’s direct, Web and in-store activities for its 275 retail locations.

- iJET Introduces Mobile Access Service
Annapolis -- iJET Intelligent Risk Systems, a provider of global intelligence services, has introduced mobile access to the company's Worldcue Global Control Center solution. The new service lets clients using mobile devices obtain real-time intelligence and risk management information. Worldcue Mobile enables users to view intelligence about worldwide events as they develop; access employee itineraries and assignment information; and immediately contact potentially affected employees.
