- GSE Systems Books Over $5 Million of New Simulator Contracts
Sykesville -- GSE Systems said that it has received new contracts totaling over $5 million of new work in its nuclear and non nuclear simulation business sectors. The nuclear awards are for major upgrades to existing simulators in the US and Mexico. The non-nuclear awards are for both new and existing fossil fueled plants located in the US and the UK.

- MAGPI Deploys Ciena to Networking Links for Federal Research Labs
Linthicum -- Ciena reported last week that MAGPI (Mid-Atlantic Gigapop for Internet2), an Information Systems and Computing organization at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, has implemented a network based on the CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform. The system supports MAGPI's high performance network connectivity among multiple research labs located at Princeton University and the U.S. Department of Energy. Ciena’s CN 4200 has increased network capacity and collaborative research capabilities for the labs, including the DOE’s Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and Princeton’s High Energy Physics Group.

- Monster Diesel Launches New Website and Social Media
Lutherville -- Alkane, a maker of an alternative diesel fuel additive, Monster Diesel, said that it has launched a renovated website and has setup social media tools Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace. The newly launched website lets users purchase products online, while the social networking sites will be utilized as a means to invite conversation on the company's ongoing alternative energy product innovations.

- Arbitron Says its Ready to Work With Congress on PPM Impact
Columbia -- Arbitron has issued a statement saying that it welcomes discussion with Congress on the impact of the introduction of the Portable People Meter (PPM) on radio listening estimates. The statement was issued in response to interest from Congress on investigating the use of the devices. The PPM electronic measurement service is currently used in markets to gather detailed information on radio listening habits.

- Census Bureau Opens Data Processing Center in Essex
Essex -- The U.S. Census Bureau and Lockheed Martin have opened a new facility in Baltimore County, to support the data processing efforts required for the 2010 Census. More than 2,500 people will work in the 236,500-square-foot facility in Essex. They will be supporting a broad spectrum of services related to 2010 Census data processing efforts. The facility will be operated by Lockheed Martin's subcontract partner, CSC, who will also manage the hiring efforts for the 2,500 new employees.
