- General Physics Acquires PerformTech

Elkridge -- General Physics has acquired PerformTech, a provider of custom courseware development and other training services primarily for the U.S. government. GP anticipates that PerformTech will have revenue of approximately $15 million for the year ending December 31, 2009. Although the term of the deal were not announced, GP utilized a portion of the net proceeds of the $20,000,000 private placement by Sagard Capital Partners to make the acquisition. PerformTech, located in Alexandria, Virginia, is a developer of custom training solutions supporting federal government priorities including border security, anti-terrorism, and highway engineering. The acquisition expands GP's position within federal government programs, such as the GoLearn program and first responder training.

- G.1440 Acquired by Constellation Software

Baltimore -– G.1440, a provider of web design, online marketing, custom application development, and IT staffing services, reported last week that it has reached agreement to be acquired by Constellation Software, through its wholly owned subsidiary Constellation HomeBuilder Systems. The staff will remain in Baltimore, where the company will continue to operate under the same name and management team. Constellation is an international provider of software and services to a number of industries. The Company acquires, manages and builds vertical market software businesses and has a portfolio of over 20,000 customers in over 30 countries.

- MICROS Acquires TIG Global

Columbia -- MICROS Systems, a provider of IT for the hospitality and retail industries, said it has acquired TIG Global, an interactive marketing company for the hospitality and travel industries. TIG Global is headquartered in the Washington, DC metro area, and serves the online needs of a diverse portfolio of clients located around the world. Acquiring TIG expands MICROS' web services portfolio for the hospitality industry. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

- Prometric to Deliver “Green IT” Exam Worldwide

Baltimore -- Prometric, a provider of testing and assessment services, last week reported that it has been selected by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, to deliver its brand new Foundation Certificate in Green IT exam worldwide. The first of its kind, this certification is designed to help II professionals and corporations gain an in-depth understanding of the environmental issues associated with IT, including improving energy efficiencies. - SpotCrime Launches iPhone Application

Baltimore -- SpotCrime, a national crime map providing up-to-date crime data from every major U.S. city, is now available to iPhone users. The SpotCrime iPhone application provides up-to-date details about actual crime incidents that have taken place, as well as real-time personal and property safety ratings for specific areas based on the GPS location of the iPhone. The application also features augmented reality views of criminal activity, which provides a live view of a real-world environment.

- TESSCO To Market Mobile Positioning Antenna Technology

Hunt Valley -- TESSCO Technologies, a reseller of wireless system solutions, said that it will market technology that allows automatic antenna repositioning. The technology will make it easier for mobile points, such as ships and automobiles, to achieve and maintain critical broadband communications. The technology, developed by Broadband Antenna Tracking Systems,(BATS) enables moving vehicles to obtain real-time access to broadband communications resources.

- M-Edge Unveils Waterproof Case for Amazon Kindle

Odenton -- M-Edge Accessories, a provider of eReader accessories, has launched begun marketing, the Guardian, a waterproof case for the Amazon-Kindle. The case lets Kindle owners read near water, at the pool, in the spa, in the tub. The case allows for full functionality of Kindle’s navigation buttons and keyboard through flexible sealed button cutouts. Users can even read hands-free in the water, because the Guardian floats upright.

- ETC Upgrades Network with Ciena’s CN 4200

Linthicum -- Ciena last week announced that ETC, a communications company serving residential and business customers in north Georgia, has deployed the CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform to upgrade its backbone network. The upgrade gives the network additional capacity, optical protection switching for resiliency against accidental fiber cuts and the ability to offer SONET, Ethernet, storage and digital video services via programmable ports. ETC is a local, broadband, cable TV, telephone, wireless phones and security company.
