- World Wide Technology Acquires Performance Technology Group

Baltimore -- St. Louis-based World Wide Technology, a systems integrator, has acquired Baltimore-based Performance Technology Group (PTG). PTG specializes in systems engineering and managed services for Federal, State and Commercial clients. The acquisition strengthens WWT's presence in the Mid-Atlantic. The combined companies will have more than 1,200 employees and revenue approaching $3 billion.

- SafeNet Launches License Security in Virtual Environments

Baltimore -- SafeNet, an information security solutions provider, has launched a new solution for software license authorization and enforcement on virtual machines (VMs). The new solution will enable software vendors to introduce licensing and pricing models that support and control the utilization of their application in virtual environments. This month SafeNet will begin rolling out VM binding support across its Sentinel product lines. Vendors will be able to bind a license to a single VM, just as they would in a traditional licensing scenario.

Baltimore -- The Greater Baltimore Tech Council (GBTC) has appointed seven new members to its board of directors. New additions include, Rodolfo, "Willie" Bosenberg, Audit, Pricewaterhousecoopers LLP; Keli Isaacson, Partner, Duane Morris; Nigel Knowles, President, LCG Technologies; Larry Letow, President and COO, Convergence Technology Consulting; Helen Montag, Corporate Relations Manager, Office of the Dean, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine; Randy Rippin, President, RTR Technologies and current President Northeast Maryland Technology Council (NMTC); and Robert Wallace, President & CEO BITH Group Technologies.

- Millennial Media Gets Top Pick in OnMedia 100 List

Baltimore -- Millennial Media, a provider of mobile advertising services, was named the overall winner of AlwaysOn's 2010 OnMedia 100. The OnMedia 100 is a list of the top 100 private digital ad companies. "Millennial Media has positioned itself as one of the leading mobile advertising networks," said Ezra Roizen an AlwaysOn contributing editor. Millennial Media was started in 2006 and employs 60 people.

- 24/7 Fiber To Expand Its Dark Fiber Network to Delmarva Peninsula

Baltimore -- 24/7 Fiber Network, a dark fiber network provider, last week said that it is planning to expand its coverage into underserved markets throughout the Delmarva Peninsula and into the metro Washington, D.C. area. The company is constructing a dark fiber footprint deep to Salisbury, MD and Wilmington, DE. This network will then continue into the Baltimore metro area and from there it will connect to 24/7's long-haul route directly into the Washington, D.C. market.
