- Tenable Launches Appliance Offering to Host Tenable Applications

Columbia -- Tenable Network Security has launched the Tenable Appliance, a browser-managed application that hosts various Tenable enterprise applications. The Tenable Appliance is available as either a virtual machine download or as a physical hardware appliance. It provides a preinstalled image of all Tenable applications in one easy to configure interface.

- AAI’s Unmanned Aircraft System Named as “Big 25” Technology

Hunt Valley -- AAI reported last week that its Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (TUAS) has been named one of the “Big 25” technologies of 2009 by C4ISR Journal, a defense trade publication. AAI’s Shadow unmanned aircraft systems are in service with the Army, National Guard, Army Special Forces and Marine Corps. They have accumulated more than 435,000 operational flight hours, the majority of which have taken place in Iraq and Afghanistan supporting America’s warfighters.

- Prometric Wins Multi-year Contract with European Personnel Office

Baltimore -- Prometric said that it has been awarded a new contract to be the exclusive partner of the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) over the next four years in the delivery of the EU staff selection examination process. Under the new contract, Prometric will work together with EPSO as it transforms existing employee selection processes for all positions in the Institutions of the European Union (EU). Prometric has delivered more than 120,000 exams for the EPSO through its network of test centers.

- Avatech Launches 24/7 Client Support Portal

Owings Mills -- Avatech Solutions, a provider of services for design and engineering technologies, has launched a new service called the Avatech Client Portal. The Client Portal will provide 24/7 instant access to information and services of special interest to Avatech clients. Avatech plans to expand the portal to include free software downloads, access to a support knowledge base, on-demand learning, product tips, links, special offers and promotions, RSS, communities, and more.

- AirPatrol Demonstrates Contraband Cell Phone Locator

Columbia -- AirPatrol, a wireless threat management solutions company, said that it demonstrated how its Wireless Locator System (WLS) locates contraband cell phones to corrections officials from Maryland and several other states. WLS is used to yield real-time cell phone and Wi-Fi device location details throughout a correctional facility. The system gives correctional officers a graphical display of the locations of active cellular and Wi-Fi devices within their secure areas.

- SpotCrime Expands Service to NC and the Pacific Northwest

Baltimore -- SpotCrime said that it has signed deals with Fisher Communications and Capitol Broadcasting Company to provide local crime data to the public via broadcast stations owned by each company. Fisher Communications, based in Seattle, owns or manages 20 television stations and 8 radio stations. Capitol Broadcasting owns and/or operates television stations in North Carolina. SpotCrime says it does not selectively report or judge crimes and is the only company mapping crime that does not partner with local police departments.

- SafeNet eToken Achieves FIPS 140-2 Level 2 and 3 Certification

Belcamp -- SafeNet, last week announced that its USB-based eToken PRO 72K and eToken PRO Smartcard 72K authentication solutions received Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 Level 2 and 3 certifications. FIPS 140-2 defines requirements for providing cryptographic functions and protecting the associated keys. FIPS 140-2 Level 3 establishes that the token is tamper-proof.

- Davis Calibration Hires John Meighan as CIO

Baltimore -- Davis Calibration has hired John Meighan as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Most recently, Meighan served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for OneWorld Lab. Prior to that, Meighan spent more than nine years with EMG, a engineering and environmental consulting firm. Meighan is a graduate of the US Naval Academy with a BS in Engineering.
